Olav Fr. Perland works mainly with dispute resolution and providing advisory services in company, securities and contract law. He has particular experience with liability cases, including directors’ liability, professional liability and liability for misrepresentation. Mr. Perland is the head of and a lecturer in the subjects "Company Law 2 – Transactions, Stock Exchange and Securities Law" in the master study of business and economics and "Securities Law" in the bachelor study of finance, both at BI Norwegian Business School. He is also the author of several articles on his areas of practice.

Mr. Perland has a Ph.D from the University of Bergen with the thesis ”Manager/underwriter liability – Investment firms’ liability in connection with placement of shares”.

Olav Fr. Perland is ranked as one of Norway's most prominent lawyers on litigation and dispute resolution in Chambers Global/Europe and Legal 500.

Projects

  • Mr. Perland heads Wiersholm's team assisting Deutsche Bank in the collection of a claim of approx. USD 300 million against Sebastian Holding Inc., including a case concerning the levying of execution on all of the shares in Norwegian IT company Confirmit AS.

  • Mr. Perland represented the bank Danske Bank in a case against the Municipality of Bremanger before the Norwegian Supreme Court. The case concerned the validity of certain agreements relating to interest rate derivatives (swaptions) entered into between the bank and the municipality at a market value of approx. NOK 130 million. The Supreme Court passed a unilateral judgment sustaining the bank's claim that the agreements were valid.
